Salut Joy!
So it was a brief run together w/Joy, but a darn good one at that! We went out to the maritimes together and her production of Joy Toys in the van and her general rad energy made for a trip that will be tough to beat on future tours. It was in Toronto, at Wavelength, where I think the Doers achieved the highest of peak performance and the tightest of musical connectedness. Joy will be dedicating her musical attention to the project she shares with her husband Jacob: The People Verses. All the best Joy and Jake! LOve your Doers.

Goodbye Jerf
Doers are real, real, real, real sad to say farewell to our drummer Jerf. Jerf, the grossest man in Canada, is moving to Edmonton to be w/his beautiful son Mingus. Jerf formed the Doers w/Barry and Sean an even three years ago after drumming for the final three years of STATIONa. God, we'll miss him. This isn't the end of Jerfus Christ though, as the new EP coming out in November has Jerf. And our full-length coming out next March has nineteen songs with Jerf all over them. Jerf is a wonderful, gross man and a talented musician and a best friend and we wish him and Mingus all the best. The final two Doers appearances w/Jerf as the backsman are: Saturday, Oct 1st at UBC and Saturday, Oct 8th at the Railway Club. Bye and love.
September 6th, 2005

The video is comprised of live Doers footage from three shows: Doers opening for Grant Hart in Vancouver; Seylynn Hall June 25th, 2005 and Jesse Wilson's wedding which took place in Doers'/Jesse Wilson's backyard. Shammy wrote 'As Good As Dead' during a trip to Miyako Jima, Japan in April, 2001. This recording is the fifth incarnation of the song. Whatcha Doin? Done
Yesterday Jesse, Barr and Jerf sequenced the 19 songs that are
the album 'Whatcha Doin?'. It was recorded and mixed by Jesse Gander at the

in Vancouver by Jamie at Sweet Sound Labs. It will be released on an enhanced
CD that will include a video for a 20th song: 'As Good As Dead'. Sean wrote
'As Good As Dead' four years ago in Japan and it has found the perfect job being
host to a video Joel Tong is putting together from live Doers footage. Whatcha
Doin? will be released on Red Cat Records sometime soonish. Even sooner the
Doers MySpace page and www.thedoers.com will have a single and B-Side available

Doers In The Can
Jesse Gander kicked the hell out of the control room at our recording
session at The Hive with us this past week. We recorded and mixed 23 songs (51.6
minutes) in 6 days, working 10-12 hours each day. Barry and SJ almost beat Mario
Brothers 3 on the original Nintendo as well. We had a few Other Doers join us
again: Mr. Anderson (harmonica), Todd Winks (electric mandolin), Patrick Swan
(poetry). Jesse was also an Other Doer singing on the song he wrote called 'Step
To The Left, Step To The Right'; he wrote that song to a guitar riff Shammy
wrote one night at a Neighbours practice. On the second last night we had a
small impromptu hoohah w/Amy & Andrew, Shannon, John Cow, Jen Deon &
Scott, Dayvo - all helping out w/gang-singing and hand clapping. It was fun
and now all we have to do is figure out what goes where and get that shit mastered.
Out in August y'all.

Hüsker Dü's Grant Hart
and the Doers/Maykings For Two Shows
Just confirmed: Doers are opening for Grant Hart, formerly of
Hüsker Dü, for a show in Vancouver (May 24th) and a show in Victoria
(May 23rd), alongside Edmonton's Maykings. "Metal Circus" played a
very important part in our discovery of punk, as did "New Day Rising".
In 1994, Sean tried out for Flexible Flyer (later to become STATIONa) with Grant's
song "Dead Set On Destruction". Enough said.

Doers/Rock For Choice Benefit
With all the tsunami relief shows i believe this year's 11th
annual Rock For Choice has been overshadowed. Doers are honoured to be a part
of Rock For Choice this year and equally honoured to share the stage this thursday,
february 3rd (railway club) with Foster Kare (best local band) and LadyHawk
(also best local band). All proceeds go to Pro-Can, Everywoman's Health Centre,
Elizabeth Bagshaw Clinic, and Sheway. you can check out all of that at: http://www.rockforchoicevancouver.com/index.html
- Rock For Choice folks have told me that it doesn't take much to keep local
women's centres and clinics open. The proceeds from Rock For Choice are always
a significant part of the yearly operational costs of most of our local women's
centres/clinics and help ensure these services stay open. Please get behind
it all, we are. I have also donated some poster art to the Rock For Choice silent
art auction that's happening on wednesday.

Sean's Art Show
For 6 or 7 years Sean's been hitting Vancouver poles and boxes
with art to help spread the word about local music. Red Cat Records held an
art show back in July 2003 exhibiting 27 of 'em. Café Deux Soleil had
a very similar show next November. This March Sean's gonna have his first fine
art show which is gonna consist of hand-made prints of new drawings. They will
be 24", 2-colour (limited to 20 of each drawing) prints. It will be showing
in Vancouver from March 1st to 31st at the Foundation (2301 Main Street) and
in Montréal from April 17th to May 16th at the Electric Tractor (6674
L'Esplanade, Suite A11). Check out Sean's site at: http://www.neptuna.com
for details, stuff and a newly updated gallery page.

Doers Spring Tour
Doers are hitting the road in April. Unfortunately only Victoria
to Montréal this time. But this one month tour is cool as hell for several
reasons:
a) Tour mates Run Chico Run will be making this tour a double
bill.
b) Sarah Jane
will be there for the entire tour now that she's officially the fourth Doer.
c) This tour is the pre-production for Whatcha Doin'?
which means (i) we should be rather tightened up for recording the day after
we return to port (ii) show-goers will be getting a big ol' shwack of new songs.
d) This tour is also the Ready,
Set.. Do Clearance Sale. We're clearing it out at a lower
price to make room for the second pressing and the new album.
d) The Montréal gig date coincides with Sean's Art Show
opening also in Montréal. Sean's new art show will be showing in Vancouver
in March and Montréal in April.
e) Run Chico Run will be travelling and sharing the stage with
Doers for a month.

Doers Record With Mr. Plow
Right now Barold Do is in the studio over at the old Profile
which became the old Rec-Age Recorders which is something else now laying down
some bass for the new Plow record "Mad Plow Disease". Norwood from
Fishbone did most of the bass duties but Barr's doing it for two songs. Jojo
and Shammy Doer went in and did some back-up face a few days ago. Sarah Jane
is s'pposed to go in on the mic too and Jerf isn't doing anything cuz there's
some metal dude that played drums. There's also that guy from Suicidal Tendencies
playing guitar and Sean's drawing the cover art.
